The message
Two things define you: Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything. Simply, Work Hard Stay Humble.
Serge Desir II, Boston born & Taunton raised, is the face behind the brand. Raised in a Haitian household, his parents made sure he appreciated hard work at a very young age. When he transferred schools in the 6th grade and was no longer held to a formal school uniform, that is when his interest in fashion sparked. Serge was now able to think creatively about his appearance and realized that style was more than a look. It’s an expression. Over time, he developed a signature look, clean and comfortable.
Due to his continued interest in fashion and footwear, Serge began working in the stockroom at Champs Sports in 2011. He gained more experience as a salesperson and then was promoted into management. At Champs, Serge drew inspiration from the rapidly-shifting trends in clothing and footwear to develop designs and colorways. Through genuine conversations with customers, he recognized that other brands were missing an authentic message. There were struggles to identify what spoke to him on a personal level, which later changed right at his workplace.
In 2014, the idea of WHSH [wish] became reality. WHSH is a brand that spreads a simple, yet meaningful message: Work Hard Stay Humble. A message that has already spread to family and friends.
WHSH embodies that; a balance that is challenging for all people to attain. The brand’s desire is to bridge the gap of age, profession, and social status.
